Monthly Job Description The successful candidate will be a member of TSU and Anderson County Extension. This position is
75% 4-H Youth Development and 25% adult Agriculture and Natural Resources. This position will be responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting county extension 4-H and Agriculture and Natural Resources educational programs especially in the context of livestock and other programs as needed in the county.
In addition, this position includes planning, executing, and evaluating programs, livestock shows, events, and activities through traditional 4-H clubs, project groups, educational workshops, camps, conferences, and special interest classes. Program delivery methods will involve volunteer recruitment, site and home visits, phone calls, workshops, newsletters, media, etc. The Extension Agent 4-H will develop and maintain good public relations with
educational officials, collaborative agencies, program sponsors and elected and appointed
officials. This position will plan, execute and evaluate the 4-H programs based on County, State
and Federal Programs and clientele needs. He/She will perform other related duties as required by
County and Regional, and State Extension Administrators. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Family & Consumer Sciences, Education, or closely related field is required. Experience in Extension, teaching or other youth development activities is preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule which will include some nights, weekends, and overnight travel. Access to a personal vehicle and the ability to obtain/maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license. The applicant should also possess the following qualifications: comprehensive knowledge and understanding of program planning, implementation and evaluation; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with teams; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form using print media, radio, and television; ability to document and market program impacts and provide leadership and demonstrate self-reliance in a collaborative environment; ability to work with UT and TSU Extension programming personnel.
