Role:

Superior Metals Manufacturing isseeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer tojoin our team in Chittenango, NY. This role is integral to ourcommitment to manufacturing excellence and customer satisfaction.

The Quality Engineer will work closely with internal departments,suppliers, and customer representatives to ensure compliance withquality standards and regulatory requirements. In this role, youwill champion our Business Management System (BMS) and AdvancedQuality System (AQS), driving continuous improvement initiativesand fostering a culture of quality throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve asthe primary quality assurance contact for assigned customers,ensuring proactive communication and resolution of quality-relatedissues. Lead and coordinate technical quality efforts acrossengineering, manufacturing, and purchasing teams to meet and exceedcustomer expectations. Conduct and support customer product,system, and qualification audits, ensuring accurate and timelydocumentation. Assist in the review and disposition of customercontracts, specifications, purchase orders, and technicaldocumentation. Develop, implement, and monitor Corrective andPreventative Action (CAPA) plans to address nonconformances andprevent recurrence. Actively participate in risk assessments,process improvement initiatives, and root cause analysisactivities. Promote and support continuous improvement through leanmethodologies, quality training, and cross-functionalcollaboration. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standardsand technological advancements in quality systems and analyticaltools. Support internal and external audit activities, includingAS9100, NADCAP, ISO17025, and A2LA audits. Contribute to internalquality metrics and reporting to track progress against goals.

Support the development and implementation of operational trainingstructures; ensure all employees complete required training andremain compliant with quality standards and procedures. Provideinput for quote reviews, inspection planning, and development ofshop floor instructions. Be available to support operations outsideof standard business hours, including evenings and weekends asneeded.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering,Quality, or a related technical discipline, OR an equivalentcombination of education and experience. Minimum 2 years ofexperience in a quality engineering or quality systems role withina manufacturing environment. In-depth knowledge of qualitystandards and frameworks, including AS9100, NADCAP, ISO17025, andA2LA. Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies such as rootcause analysis, FMEA, 5 Whys, Pareto analysis, and control plans.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability tointerpret complex technical documents and specifications. Excellentcommunication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectivelyacross departments and with external stakeholders. Demonstratedability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced,deadline-driven environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suiteand familiarity with ERP and quality management systems. Ability towork on-site at our Chittenango, NY facility and accommodateoccasional extended hours based on operational needs.

Preferred:

3-5 years of experience in the aerospace, investment casting, ormetal manufacturing industry. Working knowledge of Six Sigma, LeanManufacturing, or Theory of Constraints (TOC) principles.

Experience with contract review, inspection planning, andregulatory compliance in a customer-facing role. ASQ certification(CQE, CQA, or similar) is a strong plus.
