As part of a small, collaborative team, this position designs and implements strategies that measurably advance this goal, with a focus on energy efficiency projects in commercial buildings. This position oversees departmental implementation of and municipal-wide reporting on Metro’s Green Building Standards (Metro Code 2.32.070), which mandate energy efficiency improvements in existing city buildings and LEED Zero certification across a portion of the portfolio. The role manages Metro’s Energy Savings Revolving Fund, which implements strategic, high-ROI energy conservation measures in municipal facilities. This position will coordinate with General Services divisions, other Metro departments, and contracted vendors towards achieving the city’s energy goals. Responsibilities include onsite evaluations and inspections, strategy development, project management, vendor management, data collection and analysis, and reporting. The candidate must be a motivated and dynamic professional with excellent decision-making and interpersonal skills and the ability to independently manage concurrent projects. Flexibility, positivity, reliability, and a commitment to excellence are required.

- Typical Duties Oversee departmental implementation of and Metro-wide reporting on Metro’s Green Building Standards (Metro Code 2.
32.070). Oversee energy efficiency projects across a diverse portfolio of nearly 100 city buildings. Conduct hands-on evaluation of building controls, lighting, HVAC, and envelope condition and determine opportunities for energy savings. Manage vendors performing energy efficiency work in municipal facilities, ensuring quality control and budgetary compliance. Establish strong lines of communication with other Metro departments to collect data, share best practices, and support progress toward meeting Metro Code 2.32.070. Develop strategy for deploying limited capital dollars to greatest-impact energy conservation projects. Work closely with General Services’ Operations and Maintenance team to ensure feasibility and ongoing maintenance. Advise General Services’ Design and Construction team on energy efficiency strategies for new buildings; help write lighting, HVAC, and envelope design standards. Collaborate with General Services’ energy team to coordinate energy efficiency and renewable energy projects and strategies. Maintain databases and other records in support of day-to-day operations related to building energy use and efficiency; provide on-demand snapshots in user-friendly formats. Research and stay abreast of industry best practices, policies, and technologies that may impact progress towards Metro’s energy goals. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in any technical field, including but not limited to: Engineering, Environmental Science, Building Science, or related field and five (5) years of professional experience with facility energy use and associated systems and technologies (e.g., HVAC, controls, lighting, envelope), and/ or energy efficiency/ energy conservation in buildings.
