Job Summary:
We are looking for a junior-level CAD Design Drafter with 1-3 years of experience to support our engineering team by creating and maintaining CAD models and drawings. This role involves recreating part models and drawings from existing documentation or reverse-engineered parts, assembling components in CAD, and generating Bills of Materials (BoMs). The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and familiar with SolidWorks or similar CAD platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Recreate CAD models and 2D drawings based on existing drawings or physical parts
Import and convert CAD data from other platforms (e.g., AutoDesk Inventor)
Build assemblies in CAD and ensure correct fit and alignment
Assign part numbers and maintain CAD data organization
Generate and update Bills of Materials (BoMs)
Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing teams to ensure accurate documentation
Follow established CAD standards and file management practices
Qualifications:
Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or related field
1-3 years of experience with CAD design/drafting, preferably using SolidWorks
Basic understanding of mechanical components and assemblies
Familiarity with BoM creation and part number management
Comfortable working with imported CAD models and reverse engineering workflows
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
Preferred:
Experience with machined parts, weldments, or sheet metal
Familiarity with PDM systems and version control
Exposure to GD&T is a plus
