Job Title:
Mechanical Designer/Drafter Job Description Create shop drawings for custom commercial kitchen equipment, including floor plans, elevations, and any other specifications provided. Solid modeling is required and a background in sheet metal is a plus. Design custom stainless steel equipment meeting specific customer and industry requirements, manage large assemblies consisting of sheet metal parts, sub-assemblies, hardware, and imported files. Help establish better modeling skills, software training, and ways of improvement for other Design Engineers. Responsibilities Create shop drawings for custom equipment, including floor plans, elevations, and any other specifications provided. Design and draft complex parts and assemblies with mechanical design/integration skills. Manage large CAD assemblies and associated drawings. Read and interpret blueprints and schematics per product per project. Solid 3D-modeling using Siemens SolidEdge for sheet metal. Design CAD models per customer specifications and order sheet. Collaborate with Project Managers to deliver requested drafts for customer review. Work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing deadlines. Procure products, create DXF drawings for laser cutters and bends, and draft electrical drawings. Troubleshoot and adapt model files from the CAD library to meet customer specifications. Apply knowledge of GD&T for manufacturing sheet metal. Essential Skills Experience with sheet metal and mechanical design. Proficiency in Siemens SolidEdge and Solidworks. Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications. Experience with CAD software. Knowledge of GD&T for manufacturing sheet metal. Additional Skills & Qualifications 0-2 years of experience in food service equipment design is preferable. Experience in interpreting and manipulating existing drawings. Ability to design custom stainless steel equipment to meet specific customer requirements. Work Environment The team works in a quad of cubicles, with one lead in each quad and five quads in total. The engineering team consists of 25 engineers, including Mechanical Engineers and Drafters. The team reports to the Director of Engineering.
