Job Description We are seeking a skilled CAD Designer to join our new model development design team. The ideal candidate will have experience in marine design and be proficient in CAD software to create accurate 3D models and technical drawings for boat manufacturing. This role requires close collaboration with engineers, naval architects, and production teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and manufacturing standards. This position will require on-site work at the Everglades’ manufacturing facility in Edgewater, FL.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with naval architects and engineers to translate design concepts into manufacturing-ready drawings. Create technical drawings for various new model parts and systems using CAD software (e.g. Rhino) Create mill ready CAD files to be used for the creation of fiberglass part molds Create and maintain bill of materials Communicate with suppliers to develop and source new parts and assemblies Assist with prototype parts management Create patterns, templates, fixtures and carts to support manufacturing Ensure designs comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company specifications. Assist in refining and optimizing existing boat designs to improve performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency. Collaborate with production teams to gather and apply stakeholder feedback and resolve design-related challenges Stay updated on emerging technologies, materials, and best practices in marine design and boat manufacturing.
Qualifications & Skills:
Proficiency in CAD software such as Rhino, SolidWorks, or Siemens NX. Knowledge of marine design principles, materials, and construction techniques. Understanding of industry standards and regulations (e.g., ABYC, ISO, USCG). Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of experience as a CAD Designer, preferably in the marine or boat-building industry. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field. Recreational boating experience A passion for small craft design ABYC certification Familiarity with composite materials, aluminum, and fiberglass construction techniques. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
