As a Drafter/Designer you will join our Water team in our Westwood, MA office, where you’ll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Our One Water Team and Projects Our team of 160 dedicated water professionals has earned multiple ACEC Engineering Excellence and ASCE Project Awards. We partner with private, state, and local government clients to enhance drinking water and wastewater infrastructure, ensuring reliable and sustainable systems for communities. As part of our team, you’ll help plan, design, and administer the construction of new and upgraded conveyance systems, treatment plants, and pump stations. What will you be doing? As a Drafter/Designer, you’ll work closely with engineers and project managers to prepare plans, sections, and details using AutoCAD and Revit. You’ll play a key role in producing clear, accurate drawings that meet technical standards and help bring essential water infrastructure to life. In this role, you will:

Drafting & Design:

Prepare detailed drawings and models for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and distribution/collection systems using AutoCAD and Revit.

Plan Set Development:

Organize and produce plan sets including process piping, equipment layouts, architectural components, structural elements, and MEP systems.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with project engineers and managers to translate verbal and written design input into accurate, constructible plans.

Drawing Quality & Standards:

Ensure all deliverables meet company drafting standards and project-specific requirements for clarity, accuracy, and completeness.

Design Coordination:

Integrate input from multiple disciplines (civil, mechanical, structural, electrical) into cohesive drawing sets.

Record Keeping:

Maintain organized file structures and support version control for design documentation.

Technical Support:

Assist in resolving field questions or contractor inquiries during construction by referencing and updating design documents..

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in drafting and design for civil, mechanical, or water-related infrastructure projects. Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for plan production and modeling. Strong understanding of engineering drawings including plan views, sections, elevations, and P&IDs. Diploma, certificate, or equivalent practical training in CAD drafting, civil technology, or a related field. Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously and manage drafting deadlines. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams.

Ability to travel periodically to job sites for system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning support.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working on public water and wastewater treatment projects. Familiarity with process mechanical systems and utility infrastructure layouts. Experience with Navisworks or similar coordination/modeling tools. Understanding of local and state standards for public infrastructure drawings. Experience mentoring junior drafters or assisting in drafting standards development.
