Drafter Job Description We are seeking a skilled Drafter responsible for 2D Drafting and Configuring of Electrical Cabinets using AutoCAD Electrical within an industrial manufacturing facility. The role involves design and drafting of 2D drawings that define various hardware and layouts to support assigned projects. The CAD Designer will coordinate design efforts under the guidance of responsible engineers and engage in diverse design/drafting activities, including preparing installation and assembly drawings, as well as managing CAD data. Responsibilities Coordinate with engineers to develop mechanical and physical concepts for structures, systems, and components related to projects. Create detailed 2D drawings of equipment, structures, systems, and components such as mechanical components and piping diagrams. Assist in defining and developing system/component geometric interfaces. Assess models for manufacturability, assembly, and integration considerations. Create and verify manufacturing technical data packs and 2D component drawings to ensure compliance with design specifications. Ensure components are properly integrated into overall system design to meet functional requirements. Serve as a resource for planning and design of equipment installations and plant engineering. Maintain documentation such as notes, design calculations, drawings, and bill of materials for future reference. Identify and communicate best CAD modeling and drafting practices to team members. Engage vendors in design and manufacturing of systems and components, suggesting design improvements based on DFM and DFA principles. Collaborate in planning and scheduling detailed phases of engineering work. Establish filing guidelines to maintain up-to-date drawings. Maintain system and model compatibility in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system. Essential Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and 2D Drafting/Design. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and Vault. Experience in drafting electrical cabinets, panels, and boxes, including wire routing. P&ID Drafting Experience. Associate’s degree in drafting, CAD, engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution, or a High School Diploma with 2 years of relevant experience. Familiarity with dimensioning and tolerancing standards. Plant design experience. Work Environment This position is based in an on-site office environment, operating Monday through Friday.
