About the Opportunity About The Opportunity This is a 1-year fixed term position with the possibility of renewal based on continuing external funding. The Institute for NanoSystems Innovation (NanoSI) at Northeastern University is actively seeking a Research Engineer to develop, document and perform semiconductor process modules and run full process flows. The individual will work in the clean room and will play a critical role in the process development for various thin-film deposition and etching systems. As part of a NanoSI team, the candidate will be responsible for creating, using, and maintaining new etch and deposition processes. This Position Will Perform the Following Plan and conduct short-loop experiments to develop new etch and deposition process modules Work together with NanoSI graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to develop and implement process flows to integrate piezoelectric materials on commercial CMOS wafers Document process capabilities and work with NanoSI researchers and industry collaborators to publish results Design, execute, and analyze experiments to improve process capability, quality, and efficiency Train students and researchers Qualifications A Ph.D. or M.S. in engineering, physics or related discipline is required, plus at least 4 years of relevant experience. Demonstrated expertise in fabrication of semiconductor devices, MEMS and/or CMOS devices is required. Knowledge and experience in at least one of the following process areas are required: plasma etching, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), plasma-enhanced CVD, physical vapor deposition (PVD) Knowledge of metrology tools such as SEM, AFM, profilometers and ellipsometers are required. Experience defining and implementing statistical process control is desired. Working knowledge of statistical analysis and design of experiments is desired. $75,210.00 – $106,230.00 With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role.
