Job Description Purpose This Senior Process Engineer isresponsible for providing engineering support for New ProductIntroduction (NPI) within an active Biologics manufacturingfacility. This includes support of facility fit assessment throughMaster Record generation and manufacturing startup. Thisengineering professional, who, working with little or nosupervision, applies scientific knowledge, engineering knowledge,and mathematics to support and execute NPI, manage medium to largeprojects, equipment optimization, and maintain/track assignedpriorities. This individual will leverage their knowledge of otherrelated disciplines beyond their own area of expertise to supportNPI. This individual requires strong projection management skillsas they will be working with other engineering functions,operations and S&T to complete the full scope of NPI.Responsibilities Leads facility fit activities for New ProductIntroduction (NPI) from clinical phase 1 to commercial projectswith little to no supervision. NPI activities also includeequipment walkdowns, batch record review, leading technicaldiscussions and working with vendors. Effectively assesses andprioritizes mid to long term objectives/tasks and translates theminto actionable work streams. Responsible for compliance withapplicable policies and procedures. Leads early risk assessmentsand evaluation of potential consequences (defects and failuremodes) of design changes to established processes. Mentorsengineering staff and serves as a technical leader for mattersassociated with biologics manufacturing and tech transfer. Plansand conducts medium to large projects related to bioprocessingequipment and process improvements. Projects may require refiningof a given scope and determining overall action plan and timelines.

Additionally, it requires generation of validated change plans withvalidation requirements. Able to execute actions of those planswith minimal oversite and resolve issues as they arise with minimalto no support. Communicate progress to all stake holders throughverbal and written communications. Leads troubleshooting activitieswith little to no oversight to resolve process/equipment anomalies.

Describes and communicates required actions to internal andexternal stakeholders with varying levels of technical acumen.

Engages with operational staff on the floor in a GMP cleaning roomsetting to understand what activities are being performed.

Leverages strong process and engineering knowledge to identifyissues on the production floor proactively. Builds relationships,initiates and cultivates open, honest relationships withcolleagues, customers, contractors, and vendors by establishingrapport, developing an understanding of others needs, promotingcommon goals, and following through on commitments. Conveysinformation effectively through verbal, written, and presentationsto stakeholders and team members, both internal and external toAbbVie, using appropriate communication protocols. Identifies waysto increase customer satisfaction. Documents agreements andcommitments and keeps direct customers informed. Facilitates thedefinition of a project scope with stakeholders. Converts goals totasks and steps. Within structure, plans own work, manages several,often concurrent, tasks to accomplish assigned tasks to meet orexceed expectations (cost, quality, time). Participates in basiceconomic analysis and feasibility studies related to projectalternatives under guidance. Jointly responsible for achieving theprojects financial targets in support of business objectives.

Interprets problems and either creates or modifies designsolutions. Reviews existing layouts and standards and creates aproposed design. Applies standard engineering principles andmethodologies to interpret, draw conclusions and recommendsolutions for problems considering a broad range of factors.

Improves methods/designs/processes. Recognizes and implementsinnovations and cost reductions. Leads experiments/gathers data toperform detailed analysis and assess relevance to conceptualizecomplete solutions. Creates or coordinates the design solutions formoderately complex problems; integrates regulatory and operationalneeds; assesses cost benefit. Explores multiple alternatives.

Structures studies and integrate cross-disciplinary andcross-functional issues to arrive at optimal cause of action withminimal support from management. Qualifications QualificationsBachelors degree in engineering, science, or closely relateddiscipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plusdemonstrated competence, with a desired 5 years of significantengineering and/or operational experience. A post-graduateeducation/degree is desired and may contribute towards the desiredyears of experience. Has demonstrated competency within adiscipline. Possesses a strong technical knowledge and applicationof concepts, practices, and procedures. Works on problems ofcomplex scope where analysis of situations or data involvesmultiple competing factors. Demonstrates judgment within definedprocedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Interactswell with diverse groups within engineering and maintains strongworking relationships with internal and external collaborators.

Listens to and understands others’ points of view and articulatestactfully and respectfully one’s own perspective orally, inwriting, and in presentations. Works well with other engineers in acollaborative, fastpaced, goaldriven environment. Possessesinterpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences. Has atechnical background in health care, medical devices,pharmaceutical, biologics, or similar industries. AdditionalInformation Applicable only to applicants applying to a position inany location with pay disclosure requirements under state or locallaw: The compensation range described below is the range ofpossible base pay compensation that the Company believes ingoodfaith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting basedon the job grade for this position. Individualcompensation paidwithin this range will depend on many factors including geographiclocation, and we may ultimatelypay more or less than the postedrange. This range may be modified in the future.

Salary:

$82,500 -$157,500 We offer a comprehensive package of benefits includingpaid time off (vacation, holidays, sick),medical/dental/visioninsurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentiveprograms.
