Job Description:
We’re seeking an experienced Process Engineering Leader to support capital project execution in a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role involves working cross-functionally with engineering teams, equipment and automation vendors, and construction partners to drive timely and compliant project delivery. This is a key role supporting both design and implementation phases, including equipment installation, commissioning, and start-up.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead coordination with A&E firms, equipment and automation vendors, and the construction manager to execute project plans. Own full accountability for scope, cost, and schedule of process equipment from design through start-up. Partner closely with system users, project engineering, construction, PMO, C&Q, and automation teams to ensure user requirements are achieved at all stages. Identify and resolve design, construction, or field-related issues, escalating to management when necessary. Ensure the design integrates the requirements outlined in the URS. Participate in 3D model reviews to verify equipment operability and maintainability. Oversee FAT and SAT activities including planning, protocol approvals, vendor visits, and punch list resolution. Confirm all EHS-by-design requirements are embedded in bid packages and engineering documentation. Attend and lead owner-side system walkdowns during construction. Approve Commissioning Test Plans (CTPs) before and after execution. Review engineering turnover packages for technical accuracy and compliance with all specifications and drawings. Support documentation turnover to owner’s document control systems. Exhibit strong attention to detail, urgency, a collaborative mindset, and deep understanding of GMPs and regulatory expectations.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required.
Experience & Skills:
Minimum 5 years of process or plant engineering experience in GMP manufacturing environments, with emphasis on large molecule biologics. Proven experience managing equipment vendors and A&E firms through project execution. Deep understanding of monoclonal antibody manufacturing equipment and processes. Familiarity with centrifuges, depth filtration, single-use systems, solution prep/storage, and closed filling systems preferred. Prior involvement in greenfield or brownfield GMP facility start-ups is highly desirable. Strong technical foundation in process and manufacturing engineering. Capable of managing and supporting multiple projects simultaneously. Hands-on experience with engineering documents and drawings review. Willingness to travel for FATs and vendor coordination.
Other Requirements:
This role requires up to 25% travel between Wilson, NC and Conshohocken, PA through the design phase. Additional travel to vendor sites as needed for equipment delivery and FAT oversight. Onsite presence in Wilson, NC is required during construction and start-up phases.
