Job DescriptionAs a Process Safety Engineer you will work closely with the Manufacturing plants, Technology, Global Engineering and Regional Quality and EHS functions in the VWTS business. You are able to identify process safety risks within the chemical manufacturing operations and will be responsible for developing mitigation strategies and programs.

In this critical role, you’ll provide technical guidance, direction and training to plant staff andoperators on process chemistry and process safety, ensuring awareness and adhesion tooperational parameters and safety limits. You’ll lead and provide onsite support for start-up trials on new and/or improved processes, participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the Global Process Chemistry team to ensure all aspects of Process safety are addressed in projects and proper operating procedures are being applied at all reaction and blending plant operationsSupport the regional tolling technology transfer leader by assembling and providing toll manufacture SOPs, conducting onsite EHS, Quality and Engineering audits, and following up on completion of corrective actions. Being a critical part of the qualification team through the entire qualification process, providing guidance and support of scale-up trials ensuring safe operation and delivering products meeting quality expectations.

Work closely together with the engineering team during the design and commissioning of new engineering projects at the Veolia CMS plants and provide technical process supportAssemble process safety information, including P&IDs, equipment design data, and process parameters needed for successful completion of Process Hazard Analyses (PHA/HAZOP)Implement, maintain, and improve all aspects of the company’s process safety program. Maintaining compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, EU, and country/state/local requirements including Process Safety Management, RMP, and Seveso.

QualificationsCore Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in science, preferably Chemical Engineering, Organic or Polymer Chemistry or equivalent University Degree2-5 years experience with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and its core elementsDetailed understanding of chemical plant processes and process safety.

Experience in conducting employee Process Safety trainingAbility to drive the process safety compliance culture associated with the Chemical Industry environmentBasic understanding ofNFPA 30 standard, OSHA regulations, PSM2+ years of professional chemical industry experienceUnderstanding of risks in blend plants, especially with flammable chemicals and strong acidUnderstanding of Process Hazard Assessments (PHA) and Process Risk Assessments (PRA)Ability to travel 30%-50% of the time

The range isnot an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate’s knowledge, skills,experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the precedingconsiderations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than thestated range: $104,000-$115,000, 10% bonus
