Job Description

TAMKO is seeking a Process Engineer at our Knoxville, Tennessee facility to reduce process variation inherent in manufacturing for the purpose of minimizing waste, lowering manufacturing costs, and reducing production downtime. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Process Engineer will support process and project engineering efforts through data-driven problem solving, hands-on troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. There is also opportunity to identify and pursue areas of interest to drive improvements across the facility. Essential Job Functions To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Assist in developing P&IDs and control narratives for entire processes. Investigate root causes of production issues using equipment observation, operator and mechanic input, and process data. Construct and test hypotheses through structured trials, analyzing results and presenting findings and recommended permanent solutions. Scope, budget, and conduct cost-benefit analyses for proposed solutions; request funding and coordinate implementation. Identify and specify instrumentation needs as part of process improvements. Oversee installation, startup, commissioning, and optimization of solutions to ensure performance targets are met. Collaborate with production, maintenance, and contractor teams to ensure successful project execution. Participate in daily production meetings, weekly department meetings, monthly shift meetings, and annual safety training. Develop technical documentation and reports, and maintain accurate records of trials and changes. Occasionally travel for technical training and professional development opportunities. Education and Experience Requirements Four-year Engineering degree from an accredited university. Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience. Proficient in AutoCAD and technical writing. Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of the organization and manage tasks independently. Strong mechanical intuition and analytical problem-solving skills. Desired Skills Experience with MS Visio, Minitab, SQL Server Management Studio. Familiarity with Cognex Vision Systems, SAP, Siemens Step7 and TIA Portal, VFDs, DeltaV, and AVEVA System Platform.
