JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities and Duties
- Identify production bottlenecks, develop and execute action plans, and assess the results.
- Assist Process Engineer(s) with designs, support, research and hands-on applications.
- Provide technical support to production, maintenance, environmental, and quality.
- Monitor reliability of the processes to define paybacks for improvements.
- Perform inspections during major outages of refractory, instrumentation and prepare shutdown reports.
- Document problems related to the process or systems as seen or received from production. Review results with plant team to initiate, remend, provide and/or implement solutions.
- Conduct process and energy audits to identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Track and perform raw material analysis for the best use of the available fuels and stone conducting cost benefit calculations.
- Monitor stone quality, size and gradation, understand fuel quality analysis and their impact in product quality.
- Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and manuals.
- Miscellaneous reporting as requested; topics may include heat & mass balance, downtime entry, field measurements, daily/weekly production and greenhouse gas expulsion.
- Perform other duties as assigned:
Responsible for month end plant material reconciliation and backflushing Plant point of contact for kiln and hydrate automation queries
Prepare start up and shutdown documentation for the kiln operators and kiln assistants.

Assist in establishing a kiln refractory budget for 2026
Job Qualifications
- A third or fourth year student working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Self-starter, able to quickly understand and follow directions.
- Proactive, take charge and positive attitude.
- Experience in Root Cause Analysis and troubleshooting.
- Qualified candidates will exhibit a positive and proactive attitude with high initiative and the ability to perform with minimal supervision.
- Able to do limited travel to other sites and regions as needed.
- Good technical aptitude and analytical skills.
- Strong Computer Skills in MS Office.
- SAP or another ERP system experience a plus.
- Team Player and strong interpersonal skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have reliable transportation.
