Director of Engineering Job Summary:
This position is responsible for producing fiber optic and coax HFC designs and modifications to support project implementation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Evaluate, plan, and design suggested fiber optic and coax HFC routes to maximize the efficiency of the network while considering material, make ready, and method of placement cost to maximize utilization of customer network Draft new, and revise existing, inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) facilities according to the field and design data provided Design and draft greenfield/joint trench requests and various BAU requests according to design specifications Plan and execute node segmentations and cascade reductions Communicate directly with the customer’s engineering and design contacts regarding customer specifications Collaborate with customer and internal departments to troubleshoot any design issues; identify areas of improvement and escalate to management Perform quality checks on drafting provided by contractors to ensure best practices Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Education:
High school diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education
Experience:
Two to four years’ design experience Expert level understanding of CATV design concepts Proven experience with Node + 0, and Node + 4 design criteria Proven experience reading and understanding highway and road prints, and identifying conflicts with existing outside plant facilities Proven experience with designing in the public right-of-way and on private property
Technical Skills:
Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency Advanced understanding of
CATV HFC
design standards and requirements Experience in various customer applications; SpatialNet and P2 preferred Ability to interface with files such as Excel, Google Docs, KMZ, and AutoCAD Ability to read and interpret utility engineering drawings and plans
Soft Skills:
Highly organized and detail orientated Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to detect errors, determine causes, and make corrections
Physical Requirements:
