Overview:
This position is on the team that provides Civil sitework engineering design services to a Public utility Power Delivery (PD) organization.
The reporting location for this position will be at the General Services Headquarters, with an in-office requirement of four (4) days a week (Monday through Thursday). Remote working one (1) day a week on Friday is an option, provided the individual has reliable internet access.
Experience:
7-10 years of related experience
Education:
Accredited bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
Certification:
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)/Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification is required for this position.
A Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Georgia, or the ability to obtain one within 12-months of hire, is preferred.
Job responsibilities:
This position requires travel 25% of the time.
Provide sitework engineering design services and field support
Preparation of designs and calculations
Conduct site walk downs
Develop cost estimates and material takeoffs
Provide schedule and staffing input for projects
Efficiently transition between multiple projects and applying technical writing and Office suite skills daily.
Skillsets and expertise:
Knowledge of environmental regulations such as erosion control BMPs, GA-EPD, and NPDES, ability to develop scope definitions, schedules, material takeoffs, and cost estimates
Ability to coordinate with others in the production of design documents
Extensive knowledge or certification in erosion and sediment control and storm water drainage and hydrology design
Proficient using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for sitework design, previous experience in Civil sitework construction is a plus Working knowledge and understanding of sitework design principals to be able to prepare accurate grading design plan sets
Must display good technical writing skills
Office suite proficiency
Ability to build effective relationships with internal customers (i.e., project management, construction, maintenance, design engineering staff, etc.) and external customers (i.e. architects, contractors, vendors, etc.).
This position requires driving (excluding commute)
This position requires personal protective equipment
This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.
