The Civil/Structural Designer will be responsible for the layout and drafting of civil/structural plans and details. Be able to apply basic and advanced drafting principles through the collection and analysis of data obtained from the field or from project information with the direction of the engineer.

About the Position Prepares design layouts in compliance with engineering design and applicable code requirements. Ability to obtain data from field observations or existing documents. Interface with the client and other engineering disciplines as required in order to effectively and efficiently develop Civil/Structural designs and documents. Required Skills/ Abilities Detailed knowledge of engineering design and layout of foundations, structural steel, concrete, and masonry structures. Familiarity of advanced drafting concepts, practices, and procedures within civil/structural field. Critical thinking skills with the ability to plan ahead and conceptualize; capable of recognizing discrepancies with strong attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines and have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction. Be in good standing with DISA and valid TWIC are required. Occasional travel to client’s facilities, both locally and out of state, may be expected for client meetings and to obtain data from field observations and measurements. Education & Experience Vocational or 2-year associate degree in Drafting 3+ years of related work experience in civil/structural design for chemical, refinery or oil and gas projects and/or with a consulting firm representing similar industries. Proficiency in utilizing Plant 3D and 3D scanning/modeling experience preferred. Physical Requirements Outside work often requires moderate physical exertion including climbing scaffolding, kneeling, bending, taking field measurements and walking projects Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). This includes hardhat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, still toed shoes, or other equipment as required. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
