Evaluate Field Survey Data:

Compile the site provided information for OSP network design, including topography, utility locations, and potential obstacles.
Document field conditions and perform site evaluations to support accurate design and construction planning.
Use GPS and mapping tools to record data and create accurate network layouts.

Design:

Assist in developing designs for OSP infrastructure, including aerial and underground fiber optic networks.
Prepare splice MOPs and ensure accurate data is recorded in IQGeo
Create construction drawings, splice MOPS and route maps using design software such as CAD and GIS tools.
Prepare bill of materials and construction documents under the supervision of senior Designers.

Regulatory Compliance & Permitting:

Assist in preparing CAD drawings for OSP construction permits to local authorities.
Ensure that all designs adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards (e.g., NESC, NEC).
Stay informed of regulatory changes that could impact network designs or project planning.

Project Coordination:

Assist in resolving engineering or design-related problems that arise during project execution.
Documentation
Ensure all documentation is loaded into the project. Job Environment The OSP Designer is responsible for supporting the design, planning, and implementation of outside plant (OSP) telecommunications networks. This entry-level engineering position involves collaborating field surveys, drafting design plans, and assisting with the coordination of construction activities. The OSP Designer I ensures all projects meet company standards, while gaining hands-on experience in network infrastructure design and project execution. Expect to work in a dynamic environment where priorities and duties may shift quickly.   • Job duties and responsibilities may be shifted as needed by Management to meet the needs of the business What you will need Basic understanding of outside plant fiber.

Proficiency in using CAD, GIS, or other design and mapping tools.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction plans, and maps.
Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
0-2 years of experience in telecommunications, construction, or engineering support preferred.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred. Associate’s degree with relevant experience may be considered. What we offer
