- Job Summary
- POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Substation Civil Designer/Drafter to perform engineering design activities for electrical substations. This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Freeport, Maine office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office).
- Roles and Responsibilities
- + All aspects of electrical civil design including permitting support, site design, foundation design, structure design, and control building design.
+ The successful candidate will be responsible for learning, understanding, and implementing CAD knowledge; learning client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure that work produced conforms to the client’s standards and expectations; being responsible for knowing and following POWER’s standards, procedures, and processes; collaborating on design issues; and seeking guidance from those with more experience + Preparation of drawing packages to satisfy client and code requirements + Occasional travel will be required
- Required Education/Experience
- + Associates/technical degree in an accredited drafting program, or sufficient industry experience + Three (3) years civil design/drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, preferably in an engineering work environment + Ability to successfully participate in multiple projects concurrently + Mechanical reasoning skills and attention to detail + The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with other team members + Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.

- Desired Education/Experience
- + Experience in electric utility substation design (15kV through 500kV) is a plus + Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D or Microstation Open-Roads (In-Roads) are beneficial + Experience with Autodesk Raster Design or Bentley Descartes + Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel + Good background with mathematics POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is a global consulting environmental and engineering firm and one of the top design firms in the energy sector.
