We are seeking a talented Structural Designer to join our Design team at our Burlington, NJ location. This individual will be responsible for developing innovative, cost-effective packaging solutions using corrugated and paperboard materials. This role focuses on creating folding cartons and point-of-purchase displays that align with our clients’ brand identity, product goals, and performance expectations. As a Structural Designer, you’ll collaborate closely with the Engineering, Operations, and Production teams to conceptualize and implement packaging solutions from ideation through production. This is a hands-on design role requiring expertise in ArtiosCAD, solid understanding of production capabilities, and a passion for enhancing customer products through impactful, manufacturable packaging. If you enjoy owning projects from start to finish and working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, we want to hear from you! What our Structural Designer will be accountable for at QPSI? Design and develop innovative corrugated and paperboard packaging structures using ArtiosCAD, ensuring optimal balance of form, function, cost, and manufacturability. Lead the structural design process across all project stages – from concept and prototype through production, ensuring solutions meet quality, brand, and cost-efficiency standards. Partner with Sales to understand customer needs and develop creative packaging concepts that enhance product presentation and value. Collaborate with the Graphics team and Marketing agencies by providing dielines, production specifications, and machine limitations. Work hands-on with materials and tools to create physical mockups, samples, and testing prototypes on the sample table. Produce detailed assembly instructions and internal documentation for packaging designs using a range of software tools. Participate in internal project review meetings with cross-functional teams including Sales, Project Managers, and fellow Designers. Ensure adherence to company and industry standards (ISTA, ASTM), while consistently delivering high-quality, detailed, and organized design work. Demonstrate sound professional judgment and a proactive, solution-oriented approach throughout the design lifecycle. What Qualified Candidates for the Structural Designer role must have to be successful at QPSI? Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Design, Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years’ experience designing packaging and/or point-of-purchase displays in a manufacturing or agency environment. Proficiency in ArtiosCAD is required. Experience working with cutting tables, digital printers, and a strong understanding of material behavior in production settings. Knowledge of pallet pattern software such as TOPS and/or Cape. Familiarity with ISTA and ASTM testing standards. Graphic design knowledge and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is a strong plus. 3D rendering capabilities (e.g., SolidWorks, KeyShot) are a plus. Curiosity and a continuous learning mindset are essential. Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
