Lead Furniture Designer Oak City Customs Zebulon, NC 27597 • Hybrid work Company Overview A little bit about us: We have a 28,000 sqft manufacturing facility in Zebulon NC specializing in wood and metal fabrication including heirloom quality furniture products incorporating a rustic and industrial modern style. We work for both commercial clients such as Architects, builders, and contractors, as well as homeowners. Our specialty is table and panel production including edge glued hardwood panels, butcher blocks, and solid slabs. We often use unique slabs of wood that we produce from local trees in many of our products. We have a saw mill here with capability to cut 63″ wide slabs and 2 de-humidification style kilns that can dry approx 11,000 board feet per month. Panel production is a popular service we offer to other wood shops in the area who may not have in house equipment to glue and flatten large pieces. Summary We are seeking a talented Lead Designer to join our dynamic team at Oak City Customs. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing design projects from concept to completion, ensuring that our innovative vision is realized while meeting client specifications. This position is crucial in driving our mission of delivering exceptional custom designs. Responsibilities Lead the design process for various projects, ensuring alignment with client goals and specifications. Manage a small team of designers to insure excellence across all projects. Train new designer on best practices to create consistently striking designs. Handle multiple projects at the same time. We generally have 30 or more projects in the design process and 40 in the production process. Utilize software tools such as Rhinoceros 3D, SketchUp, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD to create detailed designs and schematics. Collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop system designs that meet functional requirements. Review and refine designs based on feedback from clients and team members. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and creativity. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in design technology. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Design, Architecture, or a related field. Proven experience as a designer in a similar role, with a strong portfolio of completed projects. Expertise in design software including Grasshopper, Rhinoceros 3D, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Revit. Strong understanding of system design principles and schematic development. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with clients and team members.
