Architectural Designer – Design Department Lead
? Hilton Head Island / Bluffton, SC Area | ? Full-Time
About the
Role:
We’re a fast-growing design-build firm seeking a seasoned Architectural Designer to lead and elevate our internal design department. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity to build scalable systems, create drawing standards, and help grow a full-service design studio.
What You’ll Do:
Lead and manage the design team, including potential offshore/remote staff
Establish drawing standards and scalable design systems
Collaborate with clients, estimators, and project directors
Produce CAD-based architectural designs and 3D models
Guide clients through visual mockups of remodel/build projects
Oversee development of a robust in-house design studio
What We’re Looking For:
Experience:
5+ years in residential architectural design (remodeling preferred)
Prior leadership experience in a design department
Technical Skills:
Proficient in AutoCAD or Revit
Open to learning Chief Architect (training support provided)
Strong 3D modeling and structural design understanding
Leadership & Communication:
Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
Experience with remote team management is a plus
Comfortable working face-to-face with clients
