Ignite is currently seeking a driven, detail-oriented Stress Engineer to support the Mars Ascent Vehicle Integrated System (MAVIS) Program in Huntsville, Alabama. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing Finite Element Method (FEM) static analysis of launch vehicle structures. The candidate will also provide insight to the design team regarding structural changes based on analysis results and provide support to stress team Tabletop Review / Preliminary Design Review products, contractual deliverables, Integrated Product Team meetings, and other meetings and documentation support as needed. The candidate will support development and delivery of contract deliverables related to the design subsystem’s structure. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the MAVIS program, one of NASA’s most ambitious Mars exploration missions. Job Requirements Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform Finite Element Method (FEM) static analysis of launch vehicle structures
- Provide insight to the design team regarding structural changes based on analysis results and provide support to stress team Tabletop Review / Preliminary Design Review products, contractual deliverables, Integrated Product Team meetings, and other meetings and documentation support as needed.
- Support development and delivery of contract deliverables related to the design subsystem’s structure.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with FEM analysis and classical stress and strain methodology (for example: engineering statics, and structural mechanics including hand calculations)
- Experience using NASTRAN Desired Experience
- 5+ years in stress analysis and FEM building ability
- Strong structural analysis background with demonstrated work experience
- Non-linear, and buckling analysis experience
- Experience with composite materials and test analysis
