Position Description:

As an early career Structural Analyst, your will provide insight in the development, test, and certification of liquid propulsion systems for NASA’s engine development programs at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). You will become part of a multi-discipline team with the charter to establish flight rationale for America’s next generation of manned launch vehicles.
Primary job duties include engaging with senior engineers to provide insight on liquid engine structural elements and test fixtures, as well as producing independent analytical assessments. In addition, you will develop and deliver reports and presentations, as well as collaborate with vendors and personnel from other NASA centers in the development of integrated flight hardware and associated ground test equipment.

Job Requirements:

A BS degree (MS preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or related field is required. A degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred. Typically, educational requirement is a BS with 0 – 5 years of experience.

Required Skills:
  • Familiarity with one or more major commercial finite element code such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, or NASTRAN.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience in the application of finite element methods, empirical closed-form structural analysis techniques, and the assessment of failure mechanisms is highly desired. Star ID will be required to obtain access to MSFC.
Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
