Job Description

The Engineering and Science Services and Capabilities Augmentation (ESSCA) contract provides engineering, scientific, and technical support to NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, AL. Our Structural Dynamics and Integration team is a high performing group executing challenging tasks for dynamic analysis of the Space Launch System (SLS) (and other launch vehicles and spacecraft) including the Systems Engineering and Integration (SEandI) functions. This exciting work will serve as a critical step in sending humans to the Moon, Mars and beyond!

Responsibilities:

We are searching for an engineer to provide Structural Dynamics Modeling support for the SLS vehicle development and other missions including the Human Lander System (HLS) and secondary payloads. Working independently and in an integrated, collaborative team, your responsibilities would be to:

Apply finite element methods to perform coupled loads analysis and use Craig-Bampton model reduction theory to prepare models for integration.

Perform dynamic analyses in support of the design and design verification of space flight vehicle systems.

Generating detailed analysis reports and presenting/communicating those results with the customer

Job Requirements:

A degree in Engineering or related technical field is required. A degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred. Typically, educational requirement is a Ph.D., Masters, or BS with 0 – 5 years of experience.

Skills and experience should demonstrate:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

A proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite competence (Word, Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook) is required.

Experience with PATRAN or FEMAP, NASTRAN, and MATLAB is required.

Experience in dynamics of structural systems using classical analysis and finite element-based methods is required.

Experience with the application of the finite element method to perform coupled loads analysis and knowledge of the Craig-Bampton model reduction theory are desirable.
