job summary: A Structural Engineer is needed for a multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, whose areas of business include pharmaceuticals, consumer healthcare products, agricultural chemicals, seeds and biotechnology products in the Luling, LA area. This Civil/Structural Engineer role requires experience in chemical or refinery environments, and involves independently leading the design, analysis, and construction support of capital projects while ensuring code compliance, coordinating across disciplines, managing regulatory submissions, and mentoring junior staff.

Luling, Louisiana job type: Contract salary: $55.76 – 83.64 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Create drawings, specifications, reports, and evaluations.
Perform and review engineering calculations.
Observe and support construction sites and field data collection.
Develop conceptual layouts, cost studies, and material take-offs.
Ensure designs optimize material usage and are construction-friendly.
Review vendor and construction submittals for compliance.
Resolve layout and detailing issues with drafting teams.
Produce construction specifications and bid packages.
Lead small to medium civil/structural engineering teams.
Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure project integration.
Skills:
Civil/Structural analysis tools (e.g., Staad Pro).MS Office Suite.
Engineering standards and drafting tools.strong interpersonal and communication skills.
High attention to detail and organizational abilities.strong leadership, delegation, and influence skills.
Self-motivated and results-driven.
Education and Experience:
BS/MS in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.10+ years in civil/structural engineering, preferably in chemical plant or refinery settings.
