Primary Responsibilities HDR’s Senior Bridge Engineer will: serve in a lead technical role (Engineer of Record) on bridge design projects; apply structural engineering and detailing techniques to projects that typically include bridge (curved & straight steel plate/box girder and prestressed concrete), box culvert, and retaining wall design for highway projects; perform complex structural planning, analysis, design, and construction support for all structural aspects of transportation-related projects; serve as a technical specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects; supervise more junior engineers in the performance of engineering tasks; and perform other duties as needed. Required Qualifications A Master’s Degree Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 8 years of experience in bridge engineering or a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 10 years of experience in bridge engineering.
Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida.
Experience must include proficiency in designing bridge superstructures and substructures including steel and pretensioned concrete girders, Florida Department of Transportation (DOT) standards for bridges and other transportation structures, AASHTO design standards, bridge load rating, MathCad, Shoring Suite, Leap Suite, MDX, Midas, Staad, GEOPAK, AutoCAD, MicroStation Connect and SS10, Open Bridge Modeler and Designer (OBM and OBD), and Microsoft Office.
