Program:
The Florida Elevate Program , administered by the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) , focuses on residential hazard mitigation efforts—specifically elevation, reconstruction, acquisition, and wind retrofit activities funded under FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) and Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) program. Kundlas Consulting Group LLC is contracted to provide Geotechnical Engineering Services for properties participating in this statewide program.
Position Summary:
Kundlas Consulting Group is seeking a Licensed Geotechnical Engineer to perform subsurface investigations and prepare geotechnical reports for residential properties across the State of Florida. The engineer will play a critical role in ensuring structural foundation stability for properties slated for elevation or reconstruction. ey
Responsibilities:
Conduct subsurface exploration and sampling using standard industry procedures (e.g., borings, test pits). Perform and/or oversee laboratory testing to determine soil properties including strength, composition, and moisture content. Analyze soil bearing capacity and subsurface conditions to evaluate long-term structural stability. Prepare comprehensive geotechnical engineering reports, including: Summary of site conditions and soil profiles Laboratory test results and geotechnical parameters Engineering analysis and recommendations Foundation system recommendations compliant with Florida Administrative Code (FAC) and Florida Building Code (FBC) Coordinate with design teams, inspectors, and construction managers to ensure alignment with mitigation goals. Travel to project sites across Florida, as required. Maintain documentation and submit deliverables in accordance with FDEM guidelines and program timelines.
Qualifications:
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Florida (Geotechnical specialty preferred) Minimum 5 years of experience in geotechnical investigations and reporting Prior experience supporting residential or light commercial construction required Familiarity with FBC and FAC compliance standards for structural elevation projects Strong writing and communication skills to prepare defensible engineering reports

Florida Job Type:
Contract Pay:
$80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
Schedule:
8 hour shift Day shift Monday to Friday Weekends as needed
