Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

The Project Engineer position is responsible for two mainfunctions. Lead and manage new project programs from the sales close totransfer to production. Support business development and the commercialteam with technical expertise in the quoting process and interactionwith external customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Actively promote and drivea culture of safety within Spectrum Plastics.
  • Plan and execute newprojects to customer’s requirements in a cost effective, safe, andtimely manner.
  • Assist and support the Sales/Commercial teams ingrowing revenue.
  • Manage and drive all facets of project developmentincluding mold design, mold construction, process development,validation activities, documentation, training, and transfer toproduction.
  • Establish and manage project schedules, delivery dates,and cost objectives. Communicate this information to internal andexternal customers.
  • Lead the cross-functional team of quality, toolingengineering, supply chain, operations, manufacturing engineering, andexternal resources (capital equipment suppliers, outside processors,automation contractors, etc.) to deliver projects per the customer’sexpectations and to Spectrum Plastic’s commitments.
  • Provideengineering and manufacturing guidance on projects. Activities include,but are not limited to, part and mold design, processing, and materialexpertise.
  • Assist in the quoting process with tooling, processing,equipment and technologies for new projects as required.
  • Ensure thatall safety procedures are followed
  • Ensure that all equipment safetiesare not altered or defeated.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering with 1-5years injection molding experience.
  • Medical device industry andvalidation experience is preferred.
  • Strong project management andleadership skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret productionreports, financial reports and technical information documents
  • Abilityto respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatoryagencies or members of the business community
  • Ability to write andprofessionally present presentations to large and small audiences
  • Ability to effectively present information in a clear and concise mannerto top management or personnel groups
  • Possess strong computer,mathematical, reading, writing skills
  • Ability to define problems,collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability tointerpret an extensive variety of technical information, electronicdata, drawings and data in an efficient manner
  • Ability to develop anddeliver presentations. Ability to create, compose, and edit writtenmaterials. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge ofadvertising and sales promotion techniques.
  • Visibility requiresmaintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive companyimage to the public
  • Work may require travel to current and potentialclients. This requires the possession of a valid state driverslicense.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit orstand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to climb up and downstairs
  • Support cross functional teams and departments as required
