Position Overview Vertex is seeking a Director, Forensic Civil Engineering to expand our testifying expert team. This role involves testifying and providing expert support on civil cases, including construction defect litigation. The Director will support client satisfaction and employee engagement, oversee the success of the Forensic practice area, and proactively suggest solutions for new challenges and opportunities. Leadership responsibilities include managing and developing a team of consultants, supporting hiring, placement, and career development, and modeling the company’s core values to inspire goal achievement through empowerment, learning, and creativity. Key Responsibilities Business Development, Leadership, Strategic Planning Support the Managing Director in meeting or exceeding the annual budget for the practice area, including revenue, resource utilization, and profitable engagement execution. Develop new accounts, retain, and expand existing engagements to meet sales goals. Delegate assignments, monitor progress, and ensure high-quality work. Monitor relevant data such as utilization, accounts receivable, and discretionary spending. Build relationships with decision-makers within existing key accounts and cross-sell services. Achieve individual utilization and revenue targets. Engage in business development activities to generate additional revenue. Identify new market segments for potential expansion. Travel as needed to support clients, employees, and leadership. Maintain quality control in service delivery and address operational challenges promptly. Operations Lead and manage strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals. Manage projects in accordance with contracts and address potential issues proactively. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies. Maintain high-quality deliverables for the practice. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical engineering or related field; advanced degrees preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with multi-state licensure. Deposition and testimony experience required. Minimum 10 years of industry experience. Proven skills in client relationship and staff management. Strong leadership abilities. Knowledge & Skills Experience reviewing technical deliverables. Effective communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to oversee and guide staff. Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle multiple priorities under high stress. Proficiency with standard software tools (Word, Excel, Adobe).
