- The Challenge
- We are looking for an entry-level engineer to join our Western Regional Design Geotechnical Engineering team that collects and analyzes subsurface information and provides geotechnical engineering designs and recommendations for roadways and structures.
In this role, you will provide the following analysis and recommendations
- Evaluate and interpret subsurface conditions
- Exercise your good engineering judgment
- Research to solve geotechnical problems
- Prepare recommendations reports and communicate findings
- Prepare construction details and provisions to implement recommendations
- Visit sites to observe existing conditions or subsurface investigation work
- Attend project meetings
- Review consultant designs and contractor design recommendations construction submittals for design code and design policy compliance.
- What You Bring
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of geotechnical engineering used to resolve geotechnical challenges related to foundations, vibration, slope stability, walls, temporary shoring, roadway subgrades, soft soils, and settlement
- Computer skills using engineering software and spreadsheets for geotechnical analysis of transportation projects
- Knowledge of developing recommendations for roadways, structures, and temporary shoring
- Knowledge of the analysis/review of consultant design submittals related to roadway, structures, and temporary shoring recommendations.
- Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in engineering; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
