Job Description

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other professionals to ensure project specifications are met. Projects range from additions to historical remodels to new high-end luxury homes. Obtain relevant information at onsite consultations and field meetings; use field-collected data for problem solving and design changes during construction. Interpret sealed engineering drawings and confirm compliance with field framing. Incorporate wood, reinforced concrete, and steel into designs. Develop and implement structural system designs using AutoCAD. Prepare construction documentation for new plans and reports for field work and inspections. Build and maintain client relationships for a growing company that has been in this market for 30+ years. Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Must hold a PE Certification for North Carolina, or have the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire. 4 to 8 years of experience in structural engineering design. Strong math, analytical skills, communication, and writing skills with a solid understanding of structural engineering fundamentals. Extensive construction knowledge and hands-on experience with residential remodels and historical upfits. Experience with wood, structural steel, and reinforced concrete design, or successful completion of courses related to these materials. AutoCAD experience preferred. Excellent technical writing and communication abilities. Must have basic computer skills. Potential to convert to a Department Lead position within 1 year based on performance.

Ability to commute/relocate:

Must have a valid NC Driver’s License with a good driving record. Must have licensed, insured, and reliable personal transportation capable of commuting to and from job sites within (1) hour of the office for field inspections and able to transport light tools and equipment. Ability to commute or planning to relocate before starting work.

Raleigh, NC 27609.

Schedule:

Full-time Monday to Friday 8:00 AM•5:30 PM (Monday-Thursday), 8:00 AM•3:00 PM (Friday)
