Primary Purpose:
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION T&S

Substation Engineering & Standards is a multi-disciplineunit focusing on Civil/Structural and High Voltage (HV) Electricaldisciplines. The team supports in-house design, engineering,construction, and commissioning of electric substation projectsinitiated by growing load demand and replacement of aginginfrastructure. Projects supported by the team include transmissionsubstation modifications and expansions, distribution substationconstruction and expansions, Battery Electric Storage System (BESS)siting and construction, and replacement of aging or failedequipment. The successful candidate develops and/or leads teams in studies andevaluations of new properties, site development plans, designcriteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, costestimates, and budget development associated with the planning,design, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance ofExelon’s electric transmission, distribution and telecommunicationfacilities/systems. Provides consultation and recommendations tothe Company within and to other business units and/or customers asa result of studying company or customer-owned systems, properties,equipment, or facilities. Reviews financial data from budget andactual costs of projects. Provides technical expertise tostrategic, legislative and operational decisions. Participates increating, updating, and applying internal/industry standards andtechnology in a specialized area of expertise. Trains and mentors’others. Position may be required to work extended hours forcoverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Primary Duties:
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Leads and performs assignments in specialized areas requiringextensive engineering expertise. Requiring maintaining state of theart engineering credential in the specialized technical area.(25%) Leads and performs engineering tasks and projects associatedwith a critical or analytical engineering project or a small numberof complex projects that require specialized knowledge in manyareas, may include field testing troubleshooting, and peer review.(30%) Evaluates, develops, implements and leads projects that havesignificant financial and operational impact, may also developinitial commissioning plans. Plans, writes and performs tasks fordocumentation deliverables and projects (10%) Participates in department planning, through field/sitewalkdowns, attend meetings/conference calls, provide budgetrecommendations and monitor performance for the accomplishment ofcommitted results. (5%) Performs assignments while acting independently, and may leadmulti-discipline teams, may include providing direct oversight ofcontractors. (5%) Serves as an expert in specialized area. (5%) Acts as an expert witness or provide expert opinions asrequired. (5%) Provides recommendations to management and implements actionplans to improve performance and cost effectiveness. (5%) Provides detailed technical training, mentorship, peer review,and/or guidance to others. (5%) Participates in technical and industry societies and committeesto enhance knowledge of new technologies or issues in areas ofcompany interest, make recommendations for business decisionsregarding strategy for new technologies and/or engineeringtechniques and tools. (5%)

Applies technical knowledge to help promote a safe workenvironment and to enhance customer satisfaction.

MinimumQualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or LicensedProfessional Engineer (2) (3) Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical andmechanical systems. Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches andengineering theory Knowledge of engineering designs, principles andpractices. Knowledge of complex field test equipment. 4-7 years of professional engineering experience (1) (3) (SeeNote). Broad knowledge and experience with regulations, guides,standards, codes methods, practices, and advanced engineeringprinciples necessary to perform very complex or unique assignmentsfor a specific Minimum of two related career experiences (4) (i.e., changes intechnical job responsibilities, which may or may not include achange in department) OR Engineer in Training OR 50% complete (by hours) with advanced technical degree, M.B.A.or Project Management Certification (1) Master’s degree in Engineering reduces the OJT experiencerequirement by 1 year. (2) License must be issued by the state inwhich you are practicing. (3) PE License reduces the OJT experiencerequirement by 1 year. (4) Career related experiences is defined aschanges in technical job responsibilities and does not have toinclude a change in department

Note:

Items (1) and (3) are mutuallyinclusive, whereby the maximum experience requirement reduction isone(1) year (e.g., in the case of an employee with both a master’sdegree in Engineering AND a PE license, the minimum experiencerequirement would be reduced by one (1) year).

PreferredQualifications:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field, witha focus on site/land development and/or storm water managementsystem design Land development and permitting experience in Maryland’sBaltimore, Harford, Howard, and Anne Arundel Counties and in theCity of Baltimore. Experience performing site and zoning analysis for commercialand industrial uses Knowledgeable in roadway design, utility systems, storm watermanagement design, and site grading and balancing. Engineer in Training (EIT) in Maryland (2) (3) Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills and the ability tocommunicate with all management levels. Strong written and oral communication skills. A working knowledge of analysis software packages such asTR-55, Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk Inventor, MATLAB, etc. Ability to analyze industry wide trends and implementenhancements.
