Summary:
Civil Engineer I:
To perform entry level duties associated with the review of engineering projects involving municipally owned wastewater treatment facilities (WWTFs) and collections systems to ensure compliance, and complete related assignments as a project engineer in the Design Review Section of the Wastewater Engineering Bureau under the direct supervision of the Design Review Section supervisor.
Civil Engineer II:
To perform basic engineering duties associated with the review of engineering projects involving municipally owned wastewater treatment facilities (WWTFs) and collections systems to ensure compliance, and complete related assignments as a project engineer in the Design Review Section of the Wastewater Engineering Bureau under the direct supervision of the Design Review Section supervisor.
Civil Engineer III:
Monitors and reviews engineering projects involving municipally owned wastewater treatment facilities (WWTFs) and collections systems to ensure compliance, and completes related assignments as a project engineer in the Design Review Section of the Wastewater Engineering Bureau.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS
Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
Minimum Qualifications:
Civil Engineer I:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in civil engineering.
Experience:
No experience required.
OR
Education:
Associate’s degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in civil technology.
Experience:
Two years of post-graduate experience in a position comparable to an Engineering Technician.
License/Certification:
Must possess an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate issued by the Joint Board of Licensure and Certification. (Bachelors degree applicants not possessing an EIT Certificate may be hired at a one-salary grade reduction.)
Must possess a valid driver’s license and/or have access to transportation for statewide travel necessary for field work.

Education:
Master’s degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in civil engineering.
Experience:
No experience required.
OR
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in civil engineering.
Experience:
Eighteen months of post-baccalaureate experience in civil engineering.
OR
Education:
Associate’s degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in civil technology.
Experience:
Eighteen months of experience in the civil engineering at a level equivalent to Civil Engineer I (or higher), plus two additional years’ experience in a position comparable to an Engineering Technician.
License/Certification:
