Position Overview:
KMA Consulting Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level/Senior Structural Engineer for our Bridges & Structures Department at our Cherry Hill, NJ office. The candidate will assist in managing the bridge & geotechnical designs for transportation engineering projects, provide guidance and mentorship to entry level staff, review calculations and plans, and help deliver quality products to our clients. Candidates should have experience applying engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for projects of varying size and complexity. Responsibilities include performing technical analyses/calculations, writing engineering reports, and preparing contract documents. Experience with NJDOT, PennDOT, NJTA, and NJ/PA counties or other MPOs is a plus.
Responsibilities:
Prepare project reports, plans, designs, and calculations Prepare project quantity and cost estimates Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects Provide quality control reviews of project team members including sub consultants The candidate must be able to work in a team environment, as well as independently, under the direct supervision of the department manager
Requirements:
Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university/program Registered Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of New Jersey, or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months 5-10 years of experience Familiarity with CADD software platforms: Bentley MicroStation Familiarity with
AASHTO LRFD
design methodology and
NJDOT/NJTA
design manuals Proficiency with
Microsoft Office Suite Preferences:
Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Structural focus) Proficiency and structural software (e.g. CSIBridge, MIDAS, STAAD Pro, RISA, PennDOT Design Program Suite) Experience with construction engineering temporary works Experience with alternate delivery methods (design/build or others) or having a DBIA certification
Travel:
Occasional need to drive/travel to work sites (mostly day travel within NJ with the possibility for some overnight travel to adjoining states). Must have a valid driver’s license. Company vehicles will be made available.
