Job Description

As the field supervisor at our worksites, will work with company and client designers and engineers on our leak remediation, water control, radiation containment and soil improvement projects and perform the following duties: review geotechnical engineering reports, reference background information and past geotechnical data to implement jet grouting technology projects such as hydraulic cutoffs, waterproof button plugs, tunnel canopies, shaft and foundation blocks; review and analyze geotechnical exploration reports, project specifications and civil/structural plans for use in designing jet grouting columns to meet requirements for minimum compressive strength, maximum allowable hydraulic conductivity (permeability), and minimum treatment dimensions required by the contractor’s design in the approved shop drawings; perform calculations and analyze various ground improvement approaches and select the option that meets the project criteria, including settlement estimates, bearing capacity, global and sliding stability, liquefaction mitigation, and structural and geotechnical capacity; develop cross section templates of different soil improvement concepts, generate soil profiles, and evaluate soil properties for use during design of ground improvement methods to protect underground structures, tunnels and buildings on our work projects; review all QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) documents and modify the design parameters accordingly; prepare standard project documents including specifications, means and methods, and testing submittals; coordinate with the engineer in-charge on final design documents to confirm adherence to the design criteria for submittals to the design team for approval and to execute the project; develop and execute the ground improvement method according to the client’s specifications and within the project’s budget and timelines while adhering to local regulations, engineering codes and jet grouting standards, and managing the environmental impact of the jet grouting process; implement safety measures during the jet grouting process to protect workers and surrounding structures; work with suppliers to obtain necessary equipment for projects; ensure that subcontractors on site are following and executing the approved plans.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or directly related field (including foreign equivalent degree).15 years of geotechnical design experience in geotechnical construction and ground improvement techniques, that includes 10 years of field/worksite supervision.

Demonstrated knowledge of: jet grouting; soil consolidation; foundation improvement; soil and rock sampling, testing and identification; core drilling; concrete and grout mixtures; structural design; and field testing.
