Job Description

  • Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Apply technical experience in ?eld of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical ?elds, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems
  • Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and di?cult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning
  • Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise
  • Develop solutions to complex technical problems in ?elds of expertise
  • Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world
  • Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers. Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them
  • Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems
  • Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identi?ed by management
  • Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements
  • Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups
  • Prepare reports for external publication
  • Provide advanced analysis and design of all types of buildings and structures for normal and accident loading conditions
  • Advanced structural analytical capabilities include dynamic seismic analysis (response spectra and time-history), generation of in-structure seismic response spectra, tornado winds and missile penetration and precipitation (rain, ?ood, snow)
  • Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS
  • Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager. 
  • Required Qualifications/ Skills /
Experience:
  • An advanced Civil Engineering degree and relevant experience, a Ph.

D. degree and about 10 years’ experience; OR, MS degree and 12 years’ experience; OR, BS degree and approximately 15 years’ experience.

Considered an internal expert in area of expertise. Contributes to advancing knowledge in ?eld of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations. Can solve complex problems in ?eld.

Candidate must demonstrate 8 years recent experience in design and analysis of NRC or DOE regulated nuclear facilities.

Experience with ?nite element analysis is required.

Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of STAAD, ANSYS or ABAQUS or similar computer codes.

Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of National Codes and Standards; speci?cally, IBC, AISC (ASD, LRFD, & N690), ACI (318 & 349) and ASCE (4, 7 & 43).Candidate must be able to perform ?eld walk-downs to document as-installed conditions.

Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties.
