Civil Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled and experienced Civil Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation of engineering and project documents, including due diligence reports, construction documents, drainage reports, specifications, and construction schedules/estimating. The role requires effective use of various tools and data to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data, and their impact on project planning and design. Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of engineering/project documents including due diligence reports, construction documents, drainage reports, specifications, and construction schedule/estimating. Use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data. Research and apply various jurisdictional requirements including Zoning and Subdivision Regulations to engineering design. Develop engineering drawings from concept through final construction documents, including Site Layout, Grading/Drainage, Utilities, and Erosion Control Design using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Support zoning, ordinance, permit assessments, and cost estimates to determine the feasibility of projects. Provide field observation services as needed. Apply knowledge and techniques of engineering and best practices. Collaborate with team members on project tasks and assignments. Understand and apply client’s standards, specifications, codes of practice, and risk tolerance. Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices. Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, subcontractors, etc. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Professional Engineering (P.E.) License is a plus or looking to obtain within a year. Registered Professional Engineer in Tennessee. At least 6 years of experience in residential and/or commercial site design, entitlement processes, permitting, and coordinating construction activities through completion. Experience managing project teams, budgets, schedules, and deliverables. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong understanding of industry, municipality, regulatory, and business operation standards. Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
