INTERNAL
POSTING-Only temporary or permanent NCDOT employees or layoff candidates with the NC Department of Transportation eligible for RIF priority reemployment consideration as described by GS 126 May ” This position is located in the Division 7 Roadside Environmental Unit in Guilford County which is responsible for vegetation management, development and monitoring of contracts, and permitting to the private sector. This Unit is also responsible for ensuring all work adheres to the 1973 Sedimentation Pollution Control Act, the NC Department of Agriculture Pesticide Division’s regulations, OSHA and all other Federal, State or Local laws and ordinances governing the work involved, installation and maintenance of Storm water BMP’s. This position will be responsible for inspection of landscape enhancement projects, mowing contracts, litter contracts, and Plant Bed Maintenance contracts. This position will be responsible for supervising subordinate engineering technicians within the unit. Position coordinates the Selective Vegetation Removal program with outdoor advertising companies, business owners and contractors. This includes permit and fee processing, policy interpretation and inspection of contracted work. This position will be responsible for ensuring all work performed on NCDOT Right of Way is performed according to standard procedures in a safe manner. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following: Experience working with project plans, pay item quantities, proposals, estimates and basic landscape guidelines Knowledge of both roadside and maintenance operations within NCDOT
Experience planning, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision
Experience in supervision, reviewing daily inspection reports, scheduling project personnel and project field reviews
Knowledge of stormwater device maintenance and the SCMS database
Additional Expectations:
Safety toe footwear is required. The selected candidate will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle.
