Our offerings include specialty gauges, laser profilometers, linear probes, wireless data transmission systems, support software utilities, data collection platforms, and fully automated gauging systems. Currently seeking an Electronics Technician (with optics/laser focus) to support our growing electronics manufacturing operation.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Assembling electrical and optical components for our LaserGauge brand of sensors
- Calibration of optical assemblies on new and repair units
- Electrically test and inspect assembled PCB products for defects in operation
- Diagnose units that will not pass testing using common tools and knowledge
- Assist and diagnose basic electronics assembly errors during other stages of manufacturing
- Document work to improve manufacturing processes as part of continuous improvement
- Work collaboratively with engineering for process improvement, quality assurance, design feedback, and support R D when needed This is a hands-on position that requires the ability to work in a soldering lab and testing environment. Potential candidates must be able to:
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning production assemblies
- Read electronics schematics with a basic level of understanding and relate it to the assembled unit
- Follow detailed written processes and procedures for manufacturing equipment
- Hand solder and rework small parts for both production and R D
- Work with production equipment and become familiar with our processes
- Use inspection microscopes for repair and to evaluate solder quality and indicate if process changes are needed
- Perform relevant internet research on best practices and procedures to implement
- Occasionally make suggestions to improve a process or start a process for a new product
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology, military electronics training, or equivalent education/experience
- Ability to operate standard types of electronic test equipment, including digital multimeters, power supplies, etc.
- Circuit diagnosis skills and ability to read electronics schematics at a basic level
- Knowledge of soldering processes (SMT and TH) and common issues that occur in electronics manufacturing
- Proficient in common PC programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with optical components such as lenses, filters, prisms, etc.
- Familiarity with lasers and eye-safety classifications
- Ability to solder and repair shorts on small, delicate electronics assemblies (microcontrollers, small discrete parts such as 0603 and 0402 footprints, fine pitch connectors, etc.
).
