Job Description
Fiber Laser Technician 3.2 3.2 out of 5 stars Trumann, AR 72472 Position Purpose Move sheet metal from pallet racks and into the laser storage tower and vice versa utilize a forklift. Unload cut parts onto carts and sort by work order. Load job files that have been provided by the programmer and initiate the cutting process. Manage inventory of partial sheets next to the laser and manually load partial sheets when a program calls for one. Perform basic maintenance tasks on the machine including but not limited to charging nozzles, emptying the dust collector, replacing slats, daily preventative maintenance, etc. Monitor sheet metal storage racks and inform facilitator of inventory needs. Push carts to next station after lading with laser cut parts. Monitor partial sheet storage next to machine and utilize drop, when possible, to improve yield. Maximize sheet usage by focusing on nest efficiency. Monitor small part Kanbans next to machine and insert filler parts where possible to improve nest efficiency. Support Fiber Laser cutting material for other Quanex facilities as requested to support efficient operations. Collaborate with manufacturing Engineer to continuously improve machine parameters and sheet sizes by type of material. Update material database as needed. Retrieving work orders from scheduling board and stage carts to be cut in sequence. Collaborate, read and interpret drawings and shear lists to determine the kind of material needed and the proper dimensions necessary. Document and report any issues or malfunction of laser machine. Comply with all Safety requirements and protocols established for the assigned area. Achieve or exceed 6s targets for the facility. Perform any and all other duties assigned by supervisor. Assist laser operator with various maintenance tasks.

Qualifications / Prior
Experience Experience in a manufacturing setting, with previous laser machinery or similar role is preferred. Technical degree or certification in a relevant field is preferred. Experience utilizing Salvagnini STREAM software preferred. Work Environment / Other Requirements Follow all plant safety rules and regulations. Meet all quality control standards. Meet productivity standards set-up for the position. Meet attendance and punctuality requirements. Maintain a clean and organized workspace and maintain 6S standards. The ability to safely move around the shop floor. Write nest programs that ensure a minimum of 90% utilization of material.
