Location US-CT-Groton Seat Location EB Groton Shipyard Trade Drafting/Design Shift 1st Security Clearance Required Secret Number of Openings 1 Overview This position requires candidates with the capability to apply electronic and digital systems skills to computer-based test instrumentation and data acquisition systems, as well as the ability to competently work with high power circuits and circuit protection devices. Job functions include development, fabrication, installation, and operation of data acquisition systems, building cable assemblies, constructing instrumentation circuits, working with high voltage/power circuits, and installing fiber optic systems. This position also requires proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, etc.), following technical directives and instructions, the ability to perform work at sea & within confined spaces, occasionally working on weekends and/or overtime, with a high degree of accountability. Applicants will be expected to interface with Engineering and other personnel regarding technical aspects of the jobs and quality.

Qualifications Required:

High School diploma or equivalent
Experience in installation, deployment and operation of electronic systems & computers
5+ years related experience
Candidates must be able to work within confined spaces, work at sea, and support occasional weekend work assignments
Candidates must have abilities fabricating electronic circuits and assemblies along with interconnecting cabling and connectors
Required technical skills include comprehension and generation of wiring diagrams and wiring tables, knowledge of electricity and electronic systems, understanding of transducers, sensors, and signal conditioning

Preferred:

Additional preference given for Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges
Ideal candidates have experience working with basic test equipment (DMM’s, O-scopes, insulation testers, etc)
Experience installing, testing, removing various sensors (strain gage, pressure sensors, RTD’s, accelerometers, thermistors, etc), circuit board components (surface mount and thru hole components), shipboard, military, and/or industrial experience Skills Knowledge of safe electrical work practices
