Job Description
Engineering Technician Federal Aviation Administration Jacksonville, FL 32246 • Hybrid work Serve as Field Maintenance Program (FMP) Engineering Technician assigned to facility improvement projects. Applies knowledge of construction and maintenance principles to complete various assignments in support of the National Airspace System (NAS). Utilizes a working knowledge of civil electrical and mechanical trades to perform hands-on installation site preparation to establish and upgrade NAS facilities in coordination with other government personnel or contract employees. Reads and interprets engineering drawings, specifications and schematics. Works as a team member with other FMP center employees. Coordinates work with local facility representatives and contractors. Participates in the accomplishment of various technical projects and tasks including but not limited to power, control, coax, or fiber optic cable fault locating, troubleshooting, and repairing. Performs engine generator set up, modification testing, trouble shooting and relocation. Performs routine and varying assignments associated with analyzing, installing, repairing, fabricating or troubleshooting electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems and components. Approximately 95% of the work is performed in travel status at remote locations. Must be able to perform appropriate trades and skills in all types of inclement in extreme temperatures, in rain, and snow. Trades and skills are utilized in all projects throughout the eastern service area.
