Job Description

Mobility Technician Wheelchair Specialties Inc Tampa, FL 33610 Join Our Team! Are you a skilled automotive technician with a passion for improving the mobility of others? We are looking for a dedicated Mobility Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in making vehicles accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, performing installations, repairs, and diagnostics on advanced mobility/adaptive equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform Diagnostics & Testing:

Identify and assess issues in electrical and mechanical systems, providing accurate reports and solutions.

Install and Connect Electrical Systems:

Install and wire various electrical systems including primary driving controls and driver electronic lockdown systems.

Conduct Functional Tests:

Thoroughly test electrical systems, ensuring they are safe and fully functional.

Repair & Troubleshoot:

Diagnose problems in mechanical and electrical components, and perform repairs as needed.

Install Mobility Equipment:

Install electronic and mechanical primary driving controls, adaptive equipment, and related components according to engineering specifications.

Quality Assurance:

Conduct thorough inspections to ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.

Interpret Schematics:

Analyze and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics for proper installation and repair.

Preventive Maintenance:

Perform under-car, under-hood, and preventive maintenance inspections to ensure continued vehicle reliability and safety.

Qualifications:
Education:

High school diploma or GED.

Experience:

General experience in automotive maintenance, with a focus on mobility or adaptive equipment installations preferred.

Certifications:

NMEDA Electrical 2, ASE Certification (Suspension, G1 Automotive Maintenance, & Light Repair) or equivalent.

Knowledge & Skills:

Familiarity with brake and steering systems. Strong background in electrical wiring and troubleshooting. Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems. Proficient in electronic troubleshooting and repair. Excellent mechanical problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
