Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Fiber Fielder with a strong working knowledge of fiber networks and Outside Plant (OSP) construction. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in the fiber-optic/telecommunications industry and will be responsible for validating the design and layout of OSP networks, including aerial, buried, and underground fiber facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Validate and document the design and layout of OSP networks, including aerial, buried, and underground fiber facilities. Capture accurate measurements of attachment heights, span distances, and utility structures. Identify and document OSP infrastructure such as poles, cables, pedestals, and handholes. Record critical information on bonding, grounding, guying, and anchoring for utility poles and other OSP elements. Provide detailed field notes, photos, and relevant data to the engineering team for further analysis. Identify obstructions to fiber placement and suggest feasible mitigation strategies. Work closely with the engineering team to deliver field notes, photographs, and measurements. Identify and address obstructions to fiber placement, providing mitigation strategies. Utilize tools like measuring wheels, GPS devices, and laser rangefinders.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in fiber-optic or telecommunications industry. Knowledge of OSP construction, Fiber Cable Design, Pole Line Construction, and Conduit System Design. Ability to read and interpret GIS maps and layout drawings.
Skills:
Strong understanding of OSP construction techniques and processes. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required. Ability to read and interpret digital GIS maps, conduit records, and layout drawings.
