Controls Technician Job Description The PLC Field Technician II is an advanced industrial electrical technician role. As a Field Tech II, you will become proficient in control system concepts and support troubleshooting and commissioning alongside Integration Engineers at client sites and during project completions. You are required to travel to clients and work with some independence on troubleshooting and commissioning tasks, specifically using PLC systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Beckhoff. Ideal candidates are comfortable working under pressure and interacting with both external and internal customers to efficiently resolve problems. You must be able to work effectively with lead Integration Engineers and communicate efficiently with all project stakeholders to ensure smooth completion of projects. Responsibilities Travel to client sites to support troubleshooting and commissioning tasks with PLC systems. Work with lead Integration Engineers to ensure smooth project completions. Interact with external and internal customers to resolve issues efficiently. Assist in maintaining a great, functioning workspace in the CLX facility. Perform tasks such as basic PLC programming and wiring panels. Work in various environments, including airports, entertainment spaces, and manufacturing areas. Essential Skills Strong electrical troubleshooting background . Ability to read electrical schematics, troubleshoot issues, and produce electrical prints. Experience creating control panels from electrical prints or schematics. Familiarity with PLC controls and ability to troubleshoot and edit. At least 2 years of experience in industrial or processing automation industries. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or AS Degree with equivalent applied experience. Excellent communication skills, staying calm under pressure. Ability to drive personal, company, and rental vehicles with a clean driving record. Willingness to work non-standard hours, including nights and weekends. Ability to travel locally with little or no notice. Passing initial and random drug screenings and TSA level background checks. Professional demeanor and appearance. Experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical. Experience troubleshooting and editing PLC software such as Studio or Logix 5000. Work Environment This role involves working in various environments such as airports, entertainment spaces, manufacturing areas, or the internal Panel Shop. Tasks may range from basic PLC programming to wiring panels or other manufacturing tasks. The work environment can be hot, cold, and dirty, and physical requirements include ascending slip or ship ladders, navigating obstacles, operating in low light, and maneuvering through confined spaces. The position requires working day and middle of the night shifts, with travel up to 85% depending on the project. Dress code requires a professional appearance.
