Job Overview
The overall objective is to ensure all Mercedes-Benz vehicles imported/distributed in the USA and Canada meet all necessary quality requirements of MB vehicles produced by all MBAG plants worldwide prior to distribution in the retail market. This role is focused on two areas of technical expertise. The first area requires the ability to use MBAG approved diagnostic equipment and repair tools to identify and ensure all current campaigns and repairs that are required by plants for new inventory are correctly identified and completed in accordance with the instructions. This requires an individual to have the ability to use basic diagnostic systems and technical ability to understand technical instructions to identify technical problems and find a repair method to fix the issues in accordance with MBAG quality standards.
Must be able to Identify, validate and perform mechanical/electrical repairs, modifications issued by MBUSA Engineering services in accordance with all MBAG quality standards.
Must have the ability to replace mechanical components, or interior parts (assemblies, sub-assemblies, or individual parts) which are found to be defective.
Must have the ability under supervision of Mechanical Technician Specialist I to replace major drive components, such as full engine, transmission and electric drive components within MB vehicle. Must have the technical skills to utilize MB online systems for part information related to vehicles to ensure correct parts needed are ordered. Must also have the written and verbal skills to ensure all parts installed and repairs using MBAG and MBUSA systems are recorded properly to ensure a complete accurate record of open and completed work to the vehicle is maintained. This is necessary from both a quality and legal standpoint. Provide technical support and guidance to Technical Associates. Must also perform or ensure all preventative maintenance on tools and equipment are completed so that VPC operations can be carried out efficiently.
Responsible to complete online and classroom based training for new tools, software (Microsoft Products), diagnostic systems and new vehicles yearly or as required.
Must have the qualifications to ensure all work completed is done in adherence to ISO9001 standards and MBAG quality standards.
Responsibilities
Identify mechanical/electrical repairs (including fully electric/Hybrid vehicles) using current diagnostic tools and online technical instructions. Perform basic diagnosed repairs and modifications (issued by MBUSA Engineering services) in accordance with all MBAG quality standards.
Replace basic mechanical, body or interior parts (assemblies, sub-assemblies, or individual parts) which are found to be defective on all models including electric/hybrid vehicles.
Identify parts/components that need to be replaced using MB online systems.
Record all parts installed and repairs using MBAG and MBUSA systems to ensure a complete accurate record of open and completed work to the vehicle.
Perform all preventative maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure all work completed can be carried out efficiently.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Provide basic technical support, guidance and assistance to Technical Associates.
Ensure adherence to ISO9001 standards
Qualifications
Qualifications
Minimum High School Diploma (GED) or equivalent
Trade School and or Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Technology preferred
This position must have the basic certifications to work on electric/hybrid vehicles.
Must have minimum of 1 to 5 years of experience in trade school, dealership fixed operations, aftermarket, or VPC repair shop
