Position Summary:
As an Automation Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting automated conveyor systems, focusing on PLCs, sensors, motor controls, and system integrations. This role requires approximately 50% travel to customer sites to perform diagnostics, repairs, and system upgrades.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PLC-controlled conveyor systems and automation equipment. Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system issues using PLC software and test equipment. Modify and update PLC code (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) as needed to support equipment performance. Collaborate with engineering and field service teams to implement improvements and resolve technical issues. Maintain accurate service records, reports, and system documentation. Travel to customer sites (up to 50%) for system support, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs. Support safety initiatives and ensure equipment complies with all safety and operational standards.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience with automation equipment, specifically PLCs and conveyor systems. Strong understanding of ladder logic and hands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley preferred). Familiarity with industrial electrical systems, sensors, drives, HMIs, and pneumatic components. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% of the time. Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Automation, or a related field is preferred; equivalent work experience accepted.
