MDU Fiber Technician ITG Communications – 2.6 New Orleans, LA Job Details Full-time $20 – $30 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Customer service High school diploma or GED Power tools Communication skills Entry level Under 1 year Full Job Description #PC570 A Fiber Technician performs in-home fiber installation and maintenance services through a series of tasks involving a range of building types, from large commercial structures and office buildings to private homes. Tasks involve the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables for high-speed data transmission and communication infrastructure. Responsibilities Resolve, repair, and install fiber-optic systems, ensuring that they work properly. Examine and replace faulty and/or old fiber optic cables Rectify fiber optic problem areas. Inspect the worksite so that a faulty fiber optic system does not destabilize its performance. Keep track of the signal strength of different devices, including: television, telephone, and high-speed internet Formulate and maintain system records and system designs Educate customers on services and assist with setting up customer-owned devices.

Requirements Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent, preferably with experience in fiber installation, preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, and sit Ability to use hands to handle or feet Ability to reach with hands and arms Ability to climb and balance. Use or ladder required. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl Ability to work in tight spaces (attic/crawl space, etc.) Ability to lift to 75 lbs Ability to maintain all safety expectations Works outdoors for extended periods. Exposed to extreme weather conditions. Utilize hand and power tools.s
