Non-Exempt-5 (NE5) Job PurposeIn this role, you will workwith Electric and Internal Combustion Vehicles in a lab environmentto support the Exterior Performance Department. You will beresponsible for preparing vehicles for the Wind Tunnel and EP Labtesting to ensure New Model quality and performance. You willinstall various instruments, program the Data Acquisition System,collect data and document test results. This role will beresponsible for providing technical engineering expertise, ensuringsafety & quality, creating process manuals and utilizing analyticsto perform continual improvement daily during the prototype phasesof New Model testing activity. Key AccountabilitiesTest OperationsLab Supports contract staff through training, quality control andaccountability. Identifies and solves potential problems with partquality. Identify potential or current test performance issues and applycountermeasures including modifications to equipment or procedureswhile working directly with design & test engineering staff. Apply PDCA to prevent problem reoccurrence whereapplicable. Coordinates visitor compliance with safety policies andproceduresTechnical Expertise Directs the proper use of test equipment consideringcapabilities, limits, and safe use of the equipment. Serves as Subject Matter Expert for Assigned lab test modes andequipment. Program Data Acquisition, identify Instrumentation mountinglocation and install Instrumentation (Accelerometers, Load Cells,Strain Gages, & Potentiometers) per
SAE J211.
Reviews Test data and confirms Accuracy and Validity. Supports annual Equipment health review and creates actionplans for remedies including justifying upgrades and newequipment. Utilize prototype expertise to design tools or parts to improveperformance/accuracy. New Model Prototype Testing Perform accurate and efficient testing per test procedureinstruction with a priority on Safety. Perform special modifications to existing products percountermeasure assigned. Read / interpret CATIA drawings to determine design / materialspecs. Operate tools and equipment to assemble / disassemble parts perspecifications. Inspect / test parts to confirm quality & operation. Interface with design / test engineers to verify technical dataand review final assembly. Obtain and maintain appropriate training (HDMA driver’slicense, large equipment license, machinist, CMM,etc.)

Associate’s degree in science/engineering/automotivepreferred or equivalent experience

Overtime canbe significant (10 hrs/week) during times of peak testing.
